Garage Museum of Contemporary Art starts the sale of tickets for spring courses

Date

4 DEC 2017

A team of experienced teachers, artists, architects, writers and art historians invite visitors to take part in the new season of courses for children and adults.

Garage courses resemble a club more than lessons and offer an opportunity to meet likeminded people and discover the worlds of art and architecture with the guidance of experts. These courses will allow participants to develop a better understanding of contemporary culture.

Kids of up to 5 years old will be introduced to the basics of architecture and learn to understand proportion and models at Scale: From Chair to Planet. Children aged from 6 and older are welcome to join our Shape and Color course to learn about three-dimensional figures and use them to make architectural models. Over 8s can choose between family courses Following Contemporary Art and Architecture. The Art of Seeing that combine theory with practice and exhibition tours.

‘We don’t teach children how to become artists or art historians—there are special schools for that. We help them develop into curious and attentive viewers and listeners. We teach “the art of seeing” and show them how to analyze art, express opinions and develop their creative thinking.

Olga Dieva, coordinator of school, family and teens programs

Adults can choose from a wide range of courses, including Art Codes: Practicum, Following Contemporary Art, Introduction to Painting, Architecture. The Art of Seeing, and Creative Writing.

‘It’s incredible, but most people don’t notice the architecture of buildings they see every day. We don’t retell the history of architecture. We help participants develop the skills that will allow them to understand architecture and enjoy it. After all, architecture was invented to bring people pleasure. That’s what makes it different from technology and engineering.

Vladimir Yuzbashev, teacher, Architecture. The Art of Seeing

Season: February–May 2018
