New International Advisor for Garage

Garage is pleased to announce that from March 2015 Georg Schöllhammer will join the Garage team as an International Advisor. Over the next three years, he will lead a long-term research initiative on Soviet Modernism that will result in several projects, including an international conference, publication, and exhibition.

Schöllhammer is an editor, writer, and curator based in Vienna, whose areas of speciality include a unique focus on art and architecture in the post-Soviet territories. He is the founding editor of springerin, head of tranzit.at, and has worked internationally on projects including dOCUMENTA, Manifesta, L'internationale, Former West, Sweet 60s, and the Vienna Festival. He has curated a number of recent exhibitions, including the Armenian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale (2014); A Parallel Modernity as part of the framework of the São Paulo Biennale (2014); and Report on the Construction of a Spaceship Model, New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York (2014). Schöllhammer’s forthcoming exhibitions and projects include: Július Koller, Museum of Modern Art Warsaw, MuMoK Vienna (2016); The School of Kyiv, 2nd Biennale of Contemporary Art Arsenale (2015); and Beyond Moscow (7 Russian cities, Vienna, 2015-2016).
