Launched in 2012, the program is currently the only initiative of its kind to support young Russian artists. The scholarship recipients represent a range of genres in contemporary art, including video art, photography, sculpture, painting, and street art. The principal selection criteria include originality, use of novel forms and materials, and credibility of artistic solutions.

The 2014/2015 expert committee is as follows:

The next application round for this annual program will start in summer 2015. The application process is based on an open call, after which an expert committee will determine the final winners, who will receive monthly payments of 20,000 roubles throughout the year. The grant program is designed to help artists aged 18–35 gain financial independence and focus on developing both their professional skills and the scope of their research. Grant holders are also encouraged to participate in Garage's various educational programs and exhibitions.
