Garage announces an open call for participation in a workshop with Supramen collective for preparation of alternative tours during the exhibition The New InternationaI

Tours will be held from 14 – 21 September both for groups of sighted and visually impaired people.
The deadline for applications is September 10.

During the tours, art students, together with the Swedish artists’ collective Supramen, will discuss the principles of museum art-educational work and political educational practices in Swedish museums. During the course of the workshop, participants will try to answer the following questions:

How does the quality of one’s eyesight, which is our main sense in navigating the museum, change the perception of art? Do we rely on our own images if our eyesight is weak, and if so do these images have an ephemeral life or are we able to fix them?

One of the goals of the project is the creation of a fanzine based on participants’ impressions of the tours formed with closed eyes.

Requirements

Applicants must:

- Be art students at college or university
- Be interested in contemporary art and new educational practices in museums
- Be able to communicate in English at an intermediate level
- Be free to attend Garage Museum of Contemporary Art from September 14 – 21

- Submit a letter expressing your motives for and interest in participation.

Please send applications to the manager of the Education Department, Maria Sarycheva, m.sarycheva@garagemca.org. A group of 4–6 people will be selected for participation.
