The first exhibition of the Soviet Union, or Who Treated Bulgakov to a ‘shashlik’?

An exhibition - even one dedicated to economic achievements - is comprised not only of buildings and displays, but also of the visitors who evaluate it. The 1923 exhibition was visited by Vladimir Mayakovsky and Mikhail Bulgakov. It is known that Bulgakov ate ‘shashlik’, but why did alcohol abstainers and the Punch propaganda group come to the exhibition? Discover this and more, and find out what the caramel candy, known as Exhibition Sweets, really tasted like.

Tatyana Vorontsova is an expert on Moscow, a designer, a curator of ProgulKino Project.

Admission is free.
