Sociology vs art history: the battle for russian contemporary art

DESCRIPTION

On May 28th, a roundtable discussion will take place between sociologists and art historians as part of the new Garage The Family Tree of Russian Contemporary Art project.

Panellists will participate in an analytical battle over the possible methods of studying contemporary Russian art, to see if there is possibility for cross-disciplinary dialogue.

The Family Tree of Russian Contemporary Art  is an interdisciplinary research project to create a visual model of the aesthetic and communal continuity in Russian art from the 1950s to 2010s.
