International Day of the Deafblind takes place on June 27th, the birthday of world-famous deafblind American writer Helen Keller. Keller (1880–1968) was the first deafblind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. Despite being unable to see or hear, she was a political activist and philanthropist who published over ten books during her lifetime.

Join New Experience Day at Garage to take part in open studios, experience the joy of collaborative creative work, join a tactile tour of Garage's new building, or learn a new alphabet in a sign language workshop.

A museum guide will accompany each blind person coming for a tour. Sign language interpretation will also be provided for hearing-impaired visitors.
