Garage Museum of Contemporary Art presents Mosaic Music — a new program of music events featuring live performances by Russian and international artists and musicians who have influenced the history of music in the twentieth century and changed our understanding of contemporaneity through sound.
Mosaic Music 2016–2017 will open on September 5 with a concert by American ambient musician and singer Julianna Barwick. Layering loops of her own voice, Barwick creates hypnotic compositions that transport listeners to a space of beauty and wonder.
The second event celebrates the jazz legacy of Vremena Goda, which was a popular musical venue in the late 1960s. On September 10, New York band Moon Hooch will perform, blending jazz improvisation with electronic music.
Following the September concerts of Julianna Barwick and Moon Hooch, Garage will be welcoming British soul singer Lianne La Havas and М83, a band led by French musician Anthony Gonzalez.
