Description

French Talks 2012: Urban Dialogues

Lecture 3

17 November, 19:00

Isabel Herault, Herault Arnod Architectes

Nature of the City

Herault Arnod Architectes is a large architectural firm in France, focusing on a variety of projects – residential and commercial spaces, cultural centers and sports facilities. While the architects do not follow a particular style, their works always tend to feature an element of the mountainous Alpine landscape, a reminder of their childhood. This is reflected in the way the architects play with scale and the position of the architecture within the landscape, as well as perceiving the urban environment as a kind of landscape in which we live. The architects often borrow formal ideas from the natural environment, transforming them into new man-made forms. In this talk, Founder Isabel Herault will describe her research into the ‘language’ of natural forms and their use in architecture.

Admission to all lectures is free.

Venue: British Higher School of Art and Design, ARTPLAY Design Center, 10, Bld. 3, N. Syromyatnicheskaya Street, 5th Floor (Room 5.11)
