Description

FILM SCREENING. VINCENT VAN GOGH: A NEW WAY OF SEEING
Directed by Phil Grabsky, 90 mins, UK

Tuesday April, 21, 19:00
Documentary Film Center

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and Documentary Film Center (DFC) continue their collaboration on the Exhibition on Screen project. Viewers get a chance to see how an exhibition is installed, listen to museum specialists talking about their work and collections, and witness the transformation of a curator’s idea into an exhibition.

The fourth film in the series, Vincent van Gogh: A New Way of Seeing is screened on April 21 at 19:00.

July 29, 2015 is the 125th anniversary of Van Gogh’s death, and a number of European museums are preparing exhibitions of his work. This is the first time the institutions and museums taking care of his legacy have joined forces on a project of such scale.

The Exhibition on Screen director Phil Grabsky made the film in collaboration with curators of Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum, which has the largest collection of the artist’s works. Curators and independent art historians offer their interpretations of Van Gogh’s paintings and comment on some on the newest discoveries about his work.
