DESCRIPTION

Polytech.Science.Art program of the Polytechnic museum in partnership with Garage Museum of Contemporary Art presents Pinar Yoldas workshop Ecosystem of excess.

Ecosystem of excess will be running from 14 to 16 of October as a parallel program of the same name exhibition by Pinar Yoldas.

Workshop participants will research imaginary forms of life that could appear and survive in ecosystem that developed from plastic medium.

If the origin of life take place now what will be these creatures like? What fish could swim in an ocean full of plastic? Who will take sunbaths on a beach with vestiges of oil products? What plants will grow in concrete and steel trees? What insects are capable to lay eggs in asphalt valleys? What birds will fly in a smog color sky?

Pinar Yoldas will lead the participants of the workshop in search of answers on these and others questions and these answers lay in the field of art. The workshop is dedicated to relationships between modern science, technologies and biology and also post-biological paradigm at whole.

Pinar Yoldas is a famous Turkish artist, prefers to live in Berlin, Istanbul or Darem. Pinar is cross-disciplinary artist and researcher with encyclicle education. Pinar graduated from Middle East Technical University (BA in architecture, 2002), further studied at Bilgi University in Istanbul (MA in visual communication design, 2004) and at Istanbul Technical University (MA in information technologies, 2006), at University of California, Los Angeles (MA in media art, 2008). Today Pinar is a PHD student in Visual and Media Studies at Duke University (Darem, NC) where she has already passed a course at the Centre for cognitive neuroscience.
