DESCRIPTION

The April meeting is a part of the public program for the Garage Triennial of Russian Contemporary Art and is devoted to the work of Dagestani artist Taus Makhacheva. The artist’s works are presented at the exhibition in the Allegiance to the Fidelity to Place Directory.

In this workshop, Taus Makhacheva will talk about inspiration and such important themes in her practice as tradition and memory. The artist will also help kids reanimate everyday objects by turning them into puppets. In conclusion of the meeting, the children will think of a story for each character and discuss it with the artist.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

 

Taus Makhacheva participates in solo and collective exhibitions all around the world. The artist is a laureate and a prize winner of numerous Russian and foreign awards, including the all-Russian Innovation Contest in the sphere of the contemporary visual art, as well as Europe’s Future Award and the Kandinsky Award. The artist will present Russia at the 57th Venetian Biennial of Contemporary Art.

How to take part

Admission is free, registration required.

We also invite deaf and hard of hearing children to attend the workshop, where there will be teachers trained in Russian Sign Language.
